TRIBUTES have poured in for a man who died after being hit by a car in Paisley.

Stuart Crawford has been honoured on social media after police named him as the fatality yesterday afternoon. 

We previously reported that Stuart, 37, was struck by a silver Ford Fiesta on Saturday, March 11, on Causeyside Street.

More than 150 people have paid tribute.

One person said: "I had the pleasure of knowing Stuart for many years, he was also an usher at my wedding. What an absolute gent of a guy who couldnt do enough for his friends. what a loss. Gone but never forgotten my friend."

Another added: "Can’t believe this has happened to just one of the best people - it’s going to be a while before this news sinks in. It is a testament to Stuart how much his work friends are grieving right now. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. I am so pleased to have had him as a brilliant colleague."

Someone else said: "Love you forever my friend. RIP the nicest fella I will ever meet."

One person wrote: "The nicest guy ever. Our hearts are broken as he will no longer be with us. We are all so grateful to have had Stuart in our lives. I will miss our football chat. Rest in peace, dear friend. You will never be forgotten."

Someone said: "I didn't know him, but he sounds like he was somebody worth knowing. My thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends."

Another added: "The best guy you could ever wish to meet. A wonderful human being. Taken far too soon...I still can't believe it. Will miss you Stu."

One person commented: "One of the best guys you could have met, such a tragic loss, rest in peace Stuart, such a privilege to have known you. You will not be forgotten."

An investigation into the crash is still ongoing.

Yesterday, Sergeant Christopher Hoggans said: “Our thoughts remain with Stuart’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are still ongoing, and we are keen to trace the drivers of a red Ford Fiesta, and a silver-coloured estate car, possibly a taxi, who might have witnessed the crash.

“I would also ask anyone with any dash cam footage or private CCTV which may assist us to contact us.”
