An EastEnders star has revealed that a Rangers legend wants them to play them on screen.

Danny Dyer, who recently departed the BBC soap after almost ten years as Mick Carter, revealed that Paul Gascoigne told him he wanted him to play him if a biopic was made of his life, the Scottish Sun reports.

It comes ahead of Gazza appearing alongside other celebrities in the new reality show Scared of the Dark, which Dyer is hosting.

Glasgow Times:

Dyer said: “I’ve met him a couple of times at a couple of football matches, he’s always been a fan of mine, like I’m a fan of his.

“He did an interview once and he said that if they do a film, he’d want me to play him, which I had to tell him that there’s no way in the f*****g world I’m going to do the Geordie accent.

"But I was very touched and quite honoured, actually, that he would want me to play him.”

Glasgow Times:

Gascoigne will appear on Channel 4's Scared of the Dark, which airs on April 16 at 9pm.
