YELLOW weather warnings for thunderstorms have been extended by the Met Office.

We previously reported the weather agency had issued two warnings for most parts of Scotland, including Glasgow, for Sunday and Monday.

The first was in place from midday on Sunday, August 14, until 6am on Monday, August 15, while the second was due to start at 6am and last until 11.59pm.

However, the yellow warning for thunderstorms is now in place from 9am until 11.59pm tomorrow, while the second is in place from midnight to 11.59pm on Monday.

As a result of the thunderstorms, there will be possible disruption.

The Met Office said: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

"Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

"There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost".
