A woman is considering getting a camera installed outside her door after her bike was stolen.

Marsail Hood, a mental health executive, realised her bike had been pinched on Sunday.

It was taken from the locked Gorbals building, where it was chained to the railings.

She said: "My partner came home and asked if I had moved my bike and she said 'I think it's missing', so I quickly ran down without a word, had a look where it was locked and it was gone.

"It was chained to the railing with a D-lock, which is a very heavy lock. But the lock was gone as well."

After the initial shock, the 26-year-old called the police and started thinking about the safety of her home.

She said the block of flats is usually always locked, but some residents have been leaving the back door open.

Now, she is contemplating what extra safety measures she should implement to avoid a similar incident in the future.

She said: "I'm considering putting a camera doorbell up, so that I can make sure we are safe.

"To anyone, I would maybe recommend getting two locks and maybe a monitoring device for it.

"I thought I was safe with my D-lock, but I will be extra safe after this."

The bike, which cost £550, is her only means of transportation to her work near Anderson train station.

Without it, her commute will triple in time.

She added: "I felt horrible and unsafe because they were able to get into our apartment building.

"How could someone steal something from another person? Especially because it wasn't cheap."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of the theft of a bike from outside a property in Thistle Terrace, Glasgow, at around 8.10pm on Sunday, October 2.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
