A THUG threw a glass and spat at police officers during the Rangers title celebrations.

Robert Bain, 24, assaulted constables Ross Falkingham and Gregor Park at Glasgow city centre's Queen Street on May 15, last year.

Thousands of jubilant Gers fans gathered in nearby George Square that day to celebrate the club's Scottish Premiership title win.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that there was "significant disturbance and disorder" that day.

Prosecutor Mark Allan said: "The officers observed Bain throw a glass in their direction, narrowly missing both."

The officers challenged Bain about his conduct but he became aggressive and refused to desist.

Bain then spat at PCs Falkingham and Park.

He then went on to tense his arms as the officers tried to put handcuffs on him during the arrest.

Mr Allan added: "While waiting for a police van, Bain kicked PC Park in the leg, causing no injury despite the intent."

A spit hood was also applied to Bain.

He pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner as well as assaulting the two officers.

Bain also admitted resisting, obstructing, or hindering the officers.
