Pictures have been revealed of a moving tribute that saw Glasgow landmarks glow green for charity.

To mark the winter solstice, Glasgow Science Centre, Sauchiehall Street, and the Kibble Palace at the Botanic Gardens lit up in all green to raise awareness for child protection charity the NSPCC and its Childline counselling service.

Glasgow Times:

On the longest night of the year as the green lights were illuminated, the charity invited families, friends and colleagues to take part in a sponsored walk.

People took part in the 5km walk to raise money and support the NSPCC and its Childline service this Christmas.

Caroline Renton, a manager for NSPCC Scotland, said: “We’re extremely grateful for the support given by all the landmarks in Glasgow that have participated to help raise awareness of the NSPCC.

"It was fantastic to see so many illuminated in green on Wednesday evening.

“And thank you to all those who joined in and raised money for our Walk for Children.

"Every pound raised will make a big difference and help Childline to be there for children, this Christmas and beyond.”
