A Glasgow woman decorated her house for Christmas in the most spectacular way.

Catherine Waddell, from Maryhill, loves dressing up the exterior of her home and following her successful Halloween display, she placed the emphasis on Christmas, as she has done for a couple of years now.

Much to the enjoyment of locals, the front garden of her property is home to plenty of Santas, snowmen, penguins and nutcrackers during the festive season.

This winter, her collection of inflatables grew so big that she had to place some of them in her neighbours' gardens.

The 39-year-old said: "I chapped the doors and I said 'you know what I am like with my decorations and I'm just wondering if I could spruce up your garden a wee bit?'.

"The neighbours love it.

"All the kids come out too, they enjoy it."

The display lights up, plays music and in a special effort, it features a postbox where local children can drop off their letters to Santa.

Including her own, the kids from the area were delighted by the opportunity to use it.

The mother-of-five said: "I bought around 50 Selection Boxes and I was also giving them chocolate.

"We had about 30 children coming to visit.

"The magical elves came and took the letters away, so Santa knows what the kids want for Christmas."

Catherine maintains the holiday tradition with the aim of spreading joy in the community.

She added: "I love it, it makes me happy and I'm glad to see when it makes other people happy.

"I had a big group up here yesterday, from the hub in Wyndford, where they meet weekly for a walk. They normally don't come this way but as I was in the garden, fixing everything up and they spotted me.

"They came up and could hardly believe it. They said it was absolutely brilliant."
