A MAN is fighting for his life after a major multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon.

Three HGVs and a motorbike were involved in the serious incident on the A725 in Bellshill at 12.25pm.

The rider of the motorbike was a 56-year-old man.

He is currently in a "critical but stable" condition at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The vehicles collided on the southbound slip road for Hamilton Road, which was then closed for 11 hours.

The road reopened around 11.30pm after crash investigation work was carried out.

Police claim no-one else was injured.

An investigation has been launched following the crash.

Police are pleading for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has dash-cam footage, to come forward.

Road policing officer David Murdoch said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances relating to this crash are ongoing and we are appealing for information.

“In particular we are asking for anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation to come forward.

“If you can assist please call us on 101, quoting incident number 1328 of Wednesday, March 8.”
