DUNDEE midfielder Charlie Adam thinks Celtic will need a 'brand new team' if they fail in their bid for 10-in-a-row this term - and singled out Jeremie Frimpong, insisting that the Dutch defender doesn't have what it takes to play for the Premiership champions.

Adam's former club Rangers pulled 19 points clear of their rivals following the 1-0 win at Parkhead last weekend, albeit having played an extra three games, as Neil Lennon's side fell further behind in the race for the title.

Adam reckons that should Steven Gerrard and his players go on to secure their first top-flight title since 2011, a major clear-out is required in Glasgow's east end - starting with Frimpong, who Adam says lacks the defensive nous to feature regularly for the Glasgow club.

He told PLZ Soccer’s Football Show: "Your Frimpong, I don’t think he’s good enough.

"Yes, he’s good going forward but defensively I don’t think he’s at the level everybody thinks he is.

"They desperately need a right winger with James Forrest coming back from an injury, and I think he’s been a massive loss to them.

"If you look at the number of players who might want away if they lose 10-in-a-row, you’re looking at a brand new team.”
