Barry Ferguson reckons Rangers have played a blinder by deciding against travelling to Dubai for a winter training camp - allowing rivals Celtic to take the heat.

The Hoops have been heavily criticised for their trip during the global pandemic, including from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon who said the move 'needed looked at'.

Celtic have been forced to come out and defend their decision to head to the UAE as a club as a whole, while Callum McGregor and Neil Lennon have also both told of the necessity of the trip.

Rangers, meanwhile, have quietly gone about their business at home and kept their focus fully on the title run-in - and Ferguson believes Steven Gerrard and co have got it spot on. "Celtic hit the headlines this week with the furore over their trip to Dubai causing all kinds of ructions,” Ferguson wrote in his Daily Record column.

"Rangers? Since the Old Firm win on Saturday, there hasn’t been a peep out of them.

"No interviews, no players in the papers and not even on their own club website. Nothing.

"And you know what that tells me? That this team is totally focused on the job in hand, which is delivering this long-awaited title to their supporters who have been through so much heartache over the past decade."
