Callum McGregor insists Rangers should not have been awarded a penalty against Celtic.

The incident occurred in the second half when Ianis Hagi went down in the box, but referee Nick Walsh found no wrongdoing.

After a brief check by the VAR room, play continued.

McGregor said: "It was probably a foul against me, if anything.

"You get your body in — you've got to try and stop them from scoring.

"It's not a foul.

"He kicks me, if anything.

"So, nah, no chance."

However, interim Rangers head coach Barry Ferguson disagreed.

He believed his team should have been given a chance to score from 12 yards.

Ferguson said: "If that's in the middle of the pitch, it's a foul.

"But it was in the box, and it wasn't given as a foul.

"I just need to move on quickly because I don't want to start saying things that are going to get me in trouble."

Rangers had to settle for a point, denying them three consecutive victories against Celtic.

Adam Idah's second-half equaliser proved crucial for the Parkhead side as they avoided defeat.

Celtic will face Hibernian next weekend in their penultimate home game of the season.
