A Good Samaritan praised for their help with cutting the grass at a Govan rose garden has been revealed to be a council worker.

The Glasgow Times previously reported that the greenery in the Elder Park garden was trimmed by a 'mystery man' after volunteers claimed Glasgow City Council cleaned up the rest of the park.

Since then, the council has come forward to say that it was one of its own workers who completed the maintenance last Saturday.

The rose garden, unlike the rest of the space, is managed by charity Friends of Elder Park.

Despite this, a GCC spokesperson said that the team knows it is their responsibility to take care of the area and the 'mystery man' seen on a lawnmower was indeed a worker.

Locals were ecstatic to see the task being completed, following a request to clean up the area.

On social media, a resident suggested that the person who completed the task was an 'angel' as many others expressed their gratitude.

This comes as Communi-T in the Park, a local music festival, is due to be held in the park on Sunday.

After a two-year hiatus, local acts and guests will gather at the iconic green space to celebrate their community spirit.
